All upcoming meetings will be held in the Mexico Library's Community Room except for the retreat at the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center. This retreat will be from Saturday November 23- 24th. I hope we stay over night. We will make definite plans at our next meeting on November 7th.

October 10th Meeting

Good News:
1. Dante has raised over $109 for the club. He sold candy bars. AWESOME job. So fro now, we are in the black, positive balance. But as soon as we order another remote control and the yellow bricks. We will be in the red again.
2. I have received information on the qualifying events. The cost will be only $100. This is alot less than what I anticipated. Plan on December 14th at Saint John Fischer in Rochester.  We can register for 2 events. So we can choose to go to Utica the week before, December 8th. WE will beside on the second weekend at the October 24th meeting.
3. We have started building the chaise.  Lots of really good teamwork last night.
NEXT meeting October 24 6:30-8:00 pm at CCE Oswego. See you then.  Linda

September 24th's meeting highlights

We learned many of new things at Thursday's meeting.
1. Linda showed everyone how to find and read the TaskMaster's blog and how to make comments on posts without having to log in. Some members accepted the invitation to join the blog as a contributor. Now these people can  make their own posts.
2. We reviewed the challenge video again and started discussing strategy.
3. We opened the newly arrived Tetrix kit and started exploring the parts. The kit came without the battery charger because of a recall. So we will have to wait until the charger comes to operate our robot.
3.5 We learned that the robot controller only operates on Windows 7,8 or Vista. The laptops we use are XP. So... This problem is going to have to be solved before we can use the robot controller.
4. We talked about how we are going to build the playing field, what items we still need to order, and additional parts we want to purchase.
5. Linda shared that the 4-H Program bought the Tetrix Kit. YEAH!! Now the money we need to fund raise is less. If you missed that past 2 meetings, you missed the great news that we received a FIRST grant for FTC of $500. This paid for our FTC registration and part of the Textrix kit.
6. Fundraising letters are ready for distribution. Linda has sent letters to SUNY Research Foundation, Novelis, and Entergy. Who needs a letter? Email Linda

Next Meeting:  October 10th at CCE Oswego. Beofer you come to this meeting, make sure you have watched the video of the game. http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/ftc/game  AND come to the meeting with some strategy suggestions.
Many Thanks. Linda

Monday, February 25, 2013

Welcome back from February break.  We had a small attendance at last week’s meeting. I hope people were on vacation and not home sick. Last week, Dante did a fabulous job with his public presentation on survival.  I am looking forward to watching the remaining group’s presentations at our next meeting, March 7th.

As of right now I have Jordan, Adam, Liam, Eric and Allie conducting their presentation on the 7th. I am all set with a volunteer judge. Does anyone have questions regarding this? Some of you have not been to a meeting in over a month. Do you have questions?

We will not be finishing our lamps on March7th since the majority of the 4-H Club will be having their presentations judged.  We will finish the lamps at our next meeting, March 14th.

Next meeting, February 21st

Good afternoon everyone!! TaskMasters 4-H Club has started a blog.  4-H Club members, and myself can post items here so that everyone can have access to it.  Hopefully, this will work.

Our next meeting will be Thursday, February 21st. We will be holding public presentations this evening.  Katie Rupracht will be our judge.  We will start at 6:30pm. Because some members will not be in town or have a conflict on the 21st, the second date for presentations is March 7th. If you want to present on March 7th and have not told me so, please do.
